A Passenger Cum Material Hoist is a heavy-duty vertical transport machine engineered to move construction personnel, engineers, tools, and raw building materials (cement bags, rebar, AAC blocks, glazing) safely up high-rise structures, chimneys, and industrial towers.
Unlike conventional wire-rope winches that suffer from rope elongation, swaying, and drum slippage at high altitudes, modern industrial hoists use Rack-and-Pinion drive mechanics:
- A hardened steel toothed rack is welded directly along the vertical mast sections.
- Electric drive motors mounted on the cage drive pinion gears that mesh precisely with the rack teeth.
- As the pinions rotate, they climb the rigid mast mechanically without reliance on friction or suspension cables.
MSJA Engineers manufactures rack-and-pinion hoists using CNC laser-cut racks and precision-ground alloy pinions, providing high duty-cycle longevity and zero vertical slippage even in severe weather and abrasive dust conditions.
